Summary of Responsibilities
The ACCE/DCE holds a full time faculty appointment and is responsible to develop and teach a variety of instructional objectives and courses related to the physical therapist assistant program and the skills required for entry into the profession of physical therapist assistant. This program leads to an AAS degree in the physical therapist assistant program. Position includes release time to coordinate the program and its clinical sites. The ACCE/DCE has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the institution and the academic program. This position reports to the PTA program director and the division dean.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physical therapy preferred
* Graduate of an accredited physical therapist or physical therapist assistant program; current license to practice as a PT or PTA in Washington State or ability to attain same within 30 days of initial employment
* Member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA); APTA clinical instructor credential preferred
* Three years full-time clinical work experience as a PT or PTA, to include clinical teaching; two years teaching in an accredited PT or PTA program preferred
* Knowledge of CAPTE accreditation guidelines; knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the PT profession
* Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff and community from diverse backgrounds, including students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act
* Recent teaching experience using a variety of methods, including traditional classroom, didactic and/or clinical, individualized lab instruction, and collaborative group activities preferred
* Knowledge of education, management, and adult learning theories and principles preferred
* Excellent communication skills and ability to function as an effective team member; proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications
* Experience in writing program curriculum, program administration; evidence of recent professional development activity
