Responsible for the evaluation, administration, and oversight of evidence-based physical therapy services provided to individuals with physical disabilities and/or functional limitations. Uses specialized skills to promote goals of prevention of dysfunction, restoration of function and/or reversal of the progression of pathology in order to enhance quality of movement and daily living skills for individuals with physical disabilities and/or functional limitations. Develops and progresses plan of care to meet the needs of the individuals served to assist in returning them to their prior level of function.   Acts in accordance with physician referral guidelines, state and national organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures.   

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for the age of the patients served. They must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. They must interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
