Dream Job: This is a job located in the "City by the Bay." Could it be yours?

The Job: Physical therapist with San Francisco Sport and Spine Physical Therapy. Set in a sports training studio, this full-time job focuses on treatment for amateur athletes with sports-related injuries.

Why this is a dream job: Autonomy - treatment sessions are based on the therapist's criteria, rather than dictated by insurance limitations. Professional development - Weekly mentoring sessions with an experienced PT allow for continuing professional and business development, along with on-site continuing education classes. Partnership opportunity - Clinic owners are willing to consider opening new affiliated clinics in the area with therapists interested in developing their own client base. Generous benefits - Advantages include a quarterly profit-sharing program, $1,000 for continuing education, shared cost of long-term training courses, along with a vacation package, and medical and dental benefits.

Types of patients and injuries you would work with: Most clients are under 35 and involved in some type of competitive sports activity including running, cycling, skiing, or tennis. Injuries seen include shoulder impingement, patellofemoral pain, cervical and lumbar pain, ankle sprains, and tendonitis.

Word on the street - what your colleague has to say about this employer: "I've worked at a couple of private practices in the Bay Area and I've had the most opportunities for development and growth here. If you want to work on running your own clinic, they guide you by teaching the business side. If you want to take a yearlong continuing education course, like I have, the company supports you. They give you a lot of encouragement both personally and professionally." - Kim Parker, MS, PT, COMT

What you could do for fun if you lived here: San Francisco offers everything: world-class cultural events, including ballet, opera, symphony, and art museums; professional sports teams; top-notch restaurants; and a wide range of nightclubs. The region's varied terrain allows you to jump from surfing to skiing in a single day. Boating, sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing, cycling, and hiking are among the many outdoor opportunities available in this scenic setting/city with easy access to nature.

What you would be paid: Salary range is $68,000 to $71,000, commensurate with experience.
