Dream Job: This is a job located in the picturesque Ocean State. Could it be yours?

The Job: Physical therapist at Performance Physical Therapy, which maintains six clinics in and around Providence, R.I., that specialize in the spine, orthopedics, and sports injuries. Performance also offers specialty programs in pediatrics, home care, occupational health, and women's health. Adjunct services include Pilates, aquatics, and various fitness and prevention programs, such as "Fit-4-Life" and athletic training at local high schools.

Why this is a dream job: Customized mentoring is offered to ensure all clinicians are providing the best care to their patients. Schedules are flexible. Benefits include tuition reimbursement, continuing education seminars, advanced certifications, and in-house training. Additionally, all staff enjoy the teamwork and collaboration involved with fundraising events, walks, and health seminars in the community.

Types of patients and injuries you would work with: These include athletes, motor vehicle and work-related injuries, postsurgical patients, and a variety of spinal and/or orthopedic diagnoses. From pediatric to geriatric clientele, Performance PTs see them all.

Word on the street - what your colleague has to say about this employer: "I began at Performance Physical Therapy five years ago and was assigned to a mentor, whom I gained many manual skills from. In addition, all expenses have been covered for me to complete my transitional DPT and Board Certification in Orthopedics. I have also become a clinic director, gaining management skills, and have been able to develop my interest in nutrition, which further helps me provide the best care. Performance has allowed me all I can wish for as far as opportunities to develop my clinical interests, as well as being a fun, innovative, and rewarding place to work," says Lisa Decoste, MSPT, DPT, OCS.

What you could do for fun if you lived here: Enjoy professional sports, live theater, fine dining, parks, and bike paths. Rhode Island's convenient location makes it easy to go skiing and snowboarding in the winter, take trips to various islands in the warm summertime, or just relax on the beautiful beaches of the Ocean State. In fact, no part of "Little Rhody" is more than 30 minutes from the Atlantic! For those who feel the lure of historic, bustling Boston, it's just an hour's jaunt via car, bus, or train.

What you would be paid: Salaries are competitive, commensurate with experience. Base salary is $55,000. Performance Physical Therapy provides quarterly bonuses, a 401(k) plan with matching, and opportunities for profit sharing.
