Dream Job: This is a job located in the cosmopolitan Pacific Northwest. Could it be yours?

The Job: Pediatric physical therapist for Seattle Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, which gets referrals from throughout Washington as well as Alaska, Montana, and Idaho.

Why this is a dream job: Seattle Children's Hospital just celebrated its 100th anniversary, and is ranked as one of the nation's best pediatric care centers by U.S. News & World Report and Child Magazine. The hospital plans to expand from 250 to 500 beds in the next five years, and the newly expanded PT clinic now has several satellite offices where PTs and OTs coordinate a multidisciplinary approach for their patients.

Types of patients and injuries you would work with: The diverse patient population ranges from newborns to 21-year-olds. Therapists evaluate and treat a wide spectrum of patients with congenital disorders, traumatic injuries, neurodevelopmental disorders, muscle diseases, orthopedic issues, and youth sports injuries.

Word on the street - what your colleague has to say about this employer: "Physical therapists at Children's collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide excellent care in our four-state area. They practice family-centered care in the outpatient and inpatient settings and have the opportunity to participate in activities that enhance professional growth and clinical research," says Cathy Graubert, P.T., manager of physical therapy.

What you could do for fun if you lived here: Seattle is more than a rainy city that spawned grunge music, the Space Needle, and the first Starbucks. The city is highly cultural, with symphonies, ballets, theater, and the International Film Festival. Sports fans cheer for the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, and other major league teams. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy boating and fishing on Lake Washington and Puget Sound, skiing in the Olympic and Cascade mountains, and camping in numerous county and state parks.

What you would be paid: From $47,000 to $72,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
