Bariatric Surgery Update

Objectives:
The goal of this program is to provide PTs with an overview of the care of patients who have had bariatric surgery. After you study this information, you will be able to —
- Differentiate between surgical options available for severely obese individuals.
- Identify psychosocial and quality-of-life issues impacting patients before and after bariatric surgery.
- List metabolic and physiological considerations physical therapists must be aware of when caring for patients after bariatric surgery.
