The goal of this program is to provide physical therapy practitioners with current knowledge of sports safety interventions for children.

Following the completion of this manuscript, the reader will be able to do the following in relationship to children and sports participation:

• Identify potential risk factors for injury, and describe available preventative measures
• Understand the physical uniqueness of child athletes and the psychological implications of participation in sports
• Identify venue-specific emergency action plans
