The goal of this Parkinson’s disease/deep brain stimulation continuing education program is to provide pharmacists, paramedics and EMTs, health educators, occupational therapists, physical therapists and physicians with knowledge about deep brain stimulation for the treatment of various neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s disease. Following the completion of this educational activity, you will be able to:

• Discuss the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease
• Describe how different surgical procedures have evolved for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease
• List the indications and contraindications for deep brain stimulation
